Becoming Ollie

INABIND Becoming Ollie is a personal essay and installation about Ollie's life during 2018. The editorial explores his experiences as a transgender individual before, during, and after his name change in 2017. Created into an editorial zine; Becoming Ollie is designed with the intention of colors and shapes that represent the transgender community and his personal identities. The editorial was paired with a set of posters that used pictures and quotes from the personal essay. With the help of photographer; Molly Tucker, the series of posters used raw and vulnerable photographs of Ollie to portray the personal, and political struggles of being transgender. The importance of this installation and essay is to spread awareness about the transgender community and to show that it isn’t just a trend.
